Blue Cheese Robotics is an innovative and creative program whose mission is to inspire and excite students about science, technology and engineering. Our team participates in the FIRST Tech Challenge - Team 93 and the FIRST Robotics Competition - Team 1086. We inspire students by building and demonstrating our robots to the community.
Deep Run High School is unique in that it is Henrico County's Center for Information Technology. Students that have strong interests in technology attend the center, and the team is fortunate to have over 23% of our team comprised of Center students. Our Center team members help program the robot in JAVA and design our award winning websites.
Our main sponsor, Flexicell, an engineering robotics palletizing company, opens their facility all year long to team 1086. The accomplishments of our team is only possible with the skill of our combined sponsors, mentors, and the unending encouragement of our alumni.
Due to economic conditions, 1086 has had to work harder at fundraising. This year the team added two new corporate sponsors and added a nonprofit organization Team Blue Cheese which also helps raise money for the team and other FIRST Teams. Our team members raised funds by running the summer school concession stand, a yard sale, a Silver Monkey Party, and the Dine and Discounts program.
